JSI Ethiopia Staff Support Communities Affected by COVID-19 with Care Packages

array of care packages

JSI staff in Ethiopia, including those on the L10K project, have come together to raise funds to purchase supplies for areas hard hit by COVID-19.

"JSI Ethiopia staff have a tradition of supporting communities with whom we work," commented JSI country representative and L10K Project Director, Wuleta Betemariam. "To cite some examples, we have provided food items to families in areas hit hard by drought, helped schools build up their libraries, availed a water source to an orphanage, and donated blood to the blood bank. Most recently, with the advent of COVID-19, JSI-Ethiopia staff contributed a proportion of their salary to support the most vulnerable population affected by the pandemic. A care package consisting of cooking oil, flour, washable masks, and sanitizers was provided to families in the most affected areas in Addis Ababa City as well as in Amhara, Oromia, Southern Nations and Nationalities, and Tigray Regions."
