Addressing Inequity in Service Provision
For many years, Ethiopia's health strategy focused on improving coverage of essential health services and expanding access to primary health care. Though the country has achieved impressive results in reducing maternal and child morbidity and mortality, there are major geographic disparities in most health system performance indicators and population health outcomes. RMNCH outcomes in the most under-resourced zones are lower than the national average and require specific interventions. L10K 2020 supports the regions and low performing zones to address inequities in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of RMNCH services. L10K 2020 does this by working with the RHBs to identify the underlying causes of low performance, design tailored interventions based on contextual factors, work with technical assistants to respond to the unique needs of each zone, and document lessons learned to inform support for other zones.
