Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC) is a set of interventions that helps manage complications in pregnancy by equipping health facilities to handle maternal and newborn health care emergencies. L10K trained over 200 health providers from Amhara, Oromia, and SNNP regions in BEmONC, increasing the availability of maternal and newborn health care emergency services. Around 500 HEWs received training to provide clean and safe births at health posts. Twenty health centers received supplies and equipment, based on demonstrated need, to improve the quality of care, and L10K supported renovations to maternity wards as needed. As a result, 95% of health centers in L10K's intervention area now have at least two providers trained in BEmONC and pregnant women have increased access to skilled delivery services at health facilities. To learn more about L10K's work in this area, see the article The effect of implementation strength of basic emergency obstetric and newborn care (BEmONC) on facility deliveries and the met need for BEmONC at the primary health care level in Ethiopia published in BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth.
