Early Care Seeking and Referral Solutions
Early Care Seeking and Referral Solutions is a participatory intervention designed to improve effective care-seeking for maternal and newborn services and referrals. Community members and health facility staff come together to review issues and develop solutions for a more efficient referral system. As a result of this consultative process, there were improvements in early recognition of the need for referrals (at the household, community and facility levels), decision-making around referrals, processes for moving people and information efficiently across the levels of the system, and management of complications at the community, health post, and health center levels. L10K also distributed referral protocols and job aids to primary health care units and set up regular review forums to evaluate performances and determine corrective actions if needed.
