Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI)

Mothers holding infants who are receiving vaccinations.

The World Health Organization established the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) to reduce illness, disability, and mortality caused by diseases that can be prevented by immunization in childhood. L10K integrated EPI into the project's community-based strategies to increase access, demand, and use of immunization services. The project supported two polio and one meningitis vaccination campaigns and provided training in the reach every district (RED) approach, micro-planning, and immunization in practice to 225 health facility heads and focal persons.
