Integrated Community Case Management of Common Childhood Illness (iCCM)
Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) of common childhood illness is designed to reduce the mortality of children under five years of age. By extending case management of childhood illness beyond health facilities and bringing treatment closer to home, more children have access to lifesaving treatments. L10K trained 9,524 HEWs and 2,077 health center staff to correctly assess, classify, and manage common childhood illnesses. L10K also worked with supervisors to build their skills to properly mentor, supervise, and coach HEWs on the management of sick children. An iCCM survey showed that quality of case management and use of services has significantly improved because HEWs can now properly identify and correctly treat most children with pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, and severe acute malnutrition.
