Technical Assistance & Mentoring

Group of medical staff listen to a colleague during a meeting.

L10K 2020 co-designed the technical assistance approach and implementation manual with the RHBs and ZHBs through task mapping. The technical assistants focus on building capacity for community engagement and woreda transformation, high quality clinical care (clinical mentorship, clinical care management, and quality improvement), integrated supportive supervision and performance review meetings, mHealth equity, and data quality and use. They also provide support in designing program strategies to implement the national Health Sector Transformation Plan agendas. The embedded technical assistants mentor, train and provide supportive supervision to staff but do not take on routine staff tasks.

Before placing technical assistants, L10K 2020 ensures they understand the scope of work the assignment, are placed based on need, are available long-term, and have a higher level of experience and expertise than those they are supporting.
